DataPlex’s Designs a 4K Image Sensor

DataPlex engineers have completed the design of a 4,096 by 2,304 pixelset image sensor for high-speed photography and digital cinematography. The new sensor boasts two major advances. First, true three-color separation is achieved by using DataPlex’s novel “pixelsets” instead of pixels, eliminating the need to subsample colors and providing billiant clarity.

Second, DataPlex has invented a unique method for incorporating field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology directly onto the sensor chip to optimize the offloading of captured image data to CPUs and storage devices. This feature eliminates the need for an image data processing circuit board, reducing cost and speeding OEM product delivery to market.
