One of DataPlex's client has a rush project with an important deadline only a few months away.   Not only was the design of their product incomplete, but their engineering group lacked focus and direction.  DataPlex put together a plan to finish the product's design, write the documentation, and manage the project through its initial production phase. DataPlex's client was able to meet its deadline and the rest of its timetable, and saved a significant amount of money overall.  Eventually, this division was sold off at a profit.

Another DataPlex client needed to interface their newly designed piece of instrumentation to a Windows-based personal computer.  At first, it seemed as though they would need to add several thousand dollars worth of plug-in cards in order to acquire the real-world measurments they were interested in.  They approached DataPlex who reviewed the concept and figured a way to cost effectively solve the dilemma using an optimized set of custom hardware and software.  The hardware was a microcontroller-based motor controller and multichannel analog sampling system, and the software was a Windows application that received the instrument's sampling results digitally over a standard serial cable.  Not only was the interface's per unit cost one tenth of the off-the-shelf equipment, but it works on a any Windows-based computer with a serial port, including Laptops.

A new client was previously unaware of the nature of acquiring and protecting their intellectual property.  Having a patent is a powerful way to discourage competitors.  Because of a review by DataPlex, the client realized that they were about to lose all their rights to foreign patent protection.  In less than one week, DataPlex developed a clear, consice version of the intellectual property and made sure that all the necessary filings to protect their client's interest had been submitted to the proper agencies.
