Real-time operation refers to the actions of hardware and software working together in a synchronized manner to properly observe events and assert timley control. Windows is not considered a real-time operation system because it allows processes to be interrupted. For most data acquisition projects, DataPlex solutions operate outside of Windows and buffer the data input to Windows so that it can catch up.
